A Packless Silencer

That's right.  A fan outlet silencer made without any sound absorbing media.  The application required that all areas of the system be steamed cleaned on a regular basis.  A traditional industrial silencer would just be a sponge, soaking up moisture and creating a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.

BAM! adjusted their construction to compensate for the lack of absorbing media and came up with the unit shown here.  A little longer than normal, but a thorough sound test, run by Quality Control, showed that it performed just as planned.  Now the customer will have a quiet AND cleanable system.
