Reducing the sound level while saving energy
Here are matching fan outlet silencers that combine sound
absorbing construction with gradual expansion. Because the internal surfaces
of
any silencer are inherently rough, the pressure drop across the silencer tends
to be fairly high. To counteract this effect, BAM! chose to increase the
outlet
area
of the silencer thus reducing the velocity of the air through the unit and
saving energy. When both effects are taken into account, the silencer ends
up adding no pressure drop to the system. And, in fact, the effect is
beneficial to the operation of the system.
